FEMA Introduces New Online Flood Insurance Purchase Option
October 21, 2026
The Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) has announced a new online option that allows property owners to obtain quotes and purchase National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP) policies directly through FloodSmart.gov.
This new service makes it easier for residents and property owners in participating NFIP communities to explore flood insurance coverage. After providing basic property information, users can receive a quote and choose to purchase a policy online or work with a licensed insurance agent.
Flooding can occur anywhere, even outside designated high-risk flood zones. Flood insurance can help protect homeowners, renters, and businesses from unexpected financial losses caused by flooding.
