Proposed regulations: Ordinance 2019-02 to Replace Chapter 18 Sewer and Sewage Disposal advertised for adoption at the 7pm, Tuesday, May 28, 2019 Board of Supervisors public meeting. The new regulations would add a sanitary sewer Nonresidential Waste Program to better control and account for the strength of waste from certain businesses. Strength of waste include FOG (fats, oils, and grease) which require more organic treatment to meet the plant’s discharge requirements. The township’s treatment plant’s organic capacity is being consumed faster than the hydraulic capacity. The NRW program is intended to protect the plant’s organic capacity so an expensive expansion would not be needed before the hydraulic capacity reaches allowed limits.
The NLCWA is also expected to adopt resolutions and forms for implementing the program at its 7pm, Wednesday, May 22, 2019 meeting.
