The officials of your municipality have acted to expand the role of Penn State Health Life Lion LLC (PSHLL) in your area. Those municipalities are Rapho Township, Manheim Borough and Penn Township.
The expanded service to those municipalities will begin on January 1, 2024, and will replace Northwest EMS as the primary ambulance provider for those municipalities. An additional PSHLL location has been secured at the Hope Fire Company of Manheim. The station will be staffed 24/7 with an ambulance staffed for Advanced Life Support (ALS). This level of service is comparable to the level that is currently being provided.
Current subscriptions to the Northwest EMS (NWEMS) membership program will be expiring on December 31, 2023 for those municipalities. New membership brochures will be mailed to the residents of those municipalities listed above in late October 2023 by Penn State health Life Lion LLC. The initial membership period for the Penn State Health Life Lion LLC subscription will include January 1, 2024 through April 30, 2025. At that time, they will become part of the annual Life Lion ambulance memberships for the Lancaster Region, which is May through April of each year. Your paid subscription will cover 100% of co-payments and 50% of deductibles that your insurance company may require you to pay. *Individuals must have health insurance or Medicare to be eligible for Penn State Health Life Lion, LLC membership.
