Penn Township is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Public Works Maintenance Worker. The position is year-round, 40 hours per week. The Public Works Department typically works 4, 10-hour days a week, Monday through Thursday during daylight savings time. The position provides year-round employment, an excellent benefit package, and a competitive starting pay rate based upon the successful candidate’s skills and knowledge.
The Public Works Department is responsible for the construction and general maintenance of the Township roads, parks and properties. The position requires the operation of heavy equipment as well as a variety of hand and power tools. The employee must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and interact with the public in a professional manner.
The employee should have a minimum of five years’ experience in Public Works or a construction related field. A current Class A or B CDL or the ability to attain is required for this position. Experience with performing maintenance on vehicles and small, motorized equipment is preferred. The employee must be available for on call work, primarily during winter months as evening and weekend hours will be occasionally required.
Successful applicants must be at least 18 years of age, possess a valid PA Driver’s License and the satisfactory completion of a pre-employment physical, PA State Police Criminal Background Check as well as a PA Department of Motor Vehicle Records Check.
