Penn Township is seeking qualified applicants for its Public Works Director position. The job is year-round, 40 hours per week, with possible overtime, and with winter on-call duties. Duties include the supervision of four other full-time public works employees; planning, scheduling, and coordinating public road, park, sewer and water projects; maintaining, repairing and upgrading streets, storm drainage systems; maintaining township parks and properties; recommending budget objectives and managing public relations; and collaborating with the township engineer, staff, and developers on development of plans and projects for the township.
The position requires the operation of light and heavy equipment as well as a variety of hand and power tools. Individuals must be able to work independently, communicate effectively, and interact with the public in a respectful manner.
The qualified individual should have a minimum of five years’ experience in Public Works or a construction related field. A current Class A or B CDL or the ability to attain is required for this position. Experience with performing maintenance on vehicles and small, motorized equipment is preferred. The individual must be available for on call during winter months as evening and weekend may will be required. The position provides year-round employment, an excellent benefit package (defined benefit pension), flexible work hours, and a competitive pay rate based upon the applicant’s skills and knowledge.
