Manheim Community Library Announces Financial Literacy Program: How Money Works

Manheim Community Library is a place for the community to turn to for the discovery of ideas, the joy of reading and the power of information.  We strive to provide resources to help our community learn, connect, and grow. PA Forward is one way we are meeting this goal.

Based on the premise that libraries are the key to powering progress and elevating the quality of 21st century life in Pennsylvania, PA Forward libraries aim to empower Pennsylvanians with five types of knowledge essential to success: Basic Literacy, Information Literacy, Civic and Social Literacy, Health Literacy and Financial Literacy.

According to the Pennsylvania Library Association:

  • Forty-one percent of U.S. adults give themselves a grade of C, D, or F on their knowledge of personal finance.
  • One in four adults does not pay bills on time. One in three has no savings and does not save any portion of household income for retirement.

Libraries can improve Financial Literacy in the community through programs such as Manheim Community Library’s upcoming How Money Works.
