Flooding Damage? Home Repair Assistance is Available Now

Knowing of the recent flooding in your area, I wanted to make you aware of a federal assistance program designed to help with home repairs.

Flooding can be an incredibly stressful and expensive experience, especially when homes are damaged. If your home was damaged by the August 31st storm, help may be available. The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) has a program – the Section 504 Home Repair program – that exists to assist low-income and elderly residents with home repairs or improvements. Qualifying residents may apply for a very low interest loan of up to $20,000 or a grant of up $7,500. In addition to repairs and renovations, this funding may be used to remove health and safety hazards.

Section 504 Home Repair loans are available year-round, while funding is available. If you would like to see if you are eligible for this program, I encourage you to visit www.rd.usda.gov/programs-services/single-family-housing-repair-loans-grants for more information on how to apply. If your home was not affected by last week’s storm, and you live in an area at risk of flooding in the future, feel free to keep this program in mind.

As always, if you have any thoughts on these or other issues that are critical to your family, please do not hesitate to reach out.
